Colin Kaepernick is back in the headlines once again.
The notorious rebel filed a grievance against the league’s owners for collusion this past Sunday and just became the most-hated guy in the league.
After claiming that he wants to play in the NFL, Kaepernick may have put his football career to rest with his recent actions.
Kaepernick’s actions may have started an avalanche of problems all across the league. Mark Geragos who is Kaepernick’s lawyer affirmed the grievance and explained what is the strategy behind the “master plan.”
Geragos announced in a press conference: “We can confirm that this morning we filed a grievance under the CBA on behalf of Colin Kaepernick. This was done only after pursuing every possible avenue with all NFL teams and their executives.” He added, “Colin Kaepernick’s goal has always been, and remains, to simply be treated fairly by the league he performed at the highest level for and to return to the football playing field.”
But “treated fairly” is not the only thing Kaepernick has on the back of his mind. His “secret” desire is to simply invalidate the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, Mike Florio reports. And the current CBA will slowly but surely expire after four years in 2021. Mike Florio declared: “Article 69, Section 2 of the CBA allows for the agreement to be terminated prematurely in the event of proof of collusion. Under Article 17, Section 16(c) of the CBA, termination can arise from only one incident of collusion involving only one player if there is clear and convincing evidence of a violation.”
The NFL Players’ Association is prepared for the worst even though the CBA has four more years until it expires. The protracted fight could bring a whole world of problems and could lead to a work stoppage. It’s going to be a tough task for Kaepernick to prove that every NFL owner conspired behind his back to kick him out of the league. But if Kaepernick somehow pulls it off, it’s going to catch the league off guard. Kaepernick’s victory will force players and owners to sit on a negotiation table and start from scratch. A new CBA will be forged and the league will start all over.
